QMJHL Roundup: Titan beat Sagueneens to advance to second round

CHICOUTIMI, Que. – Evan Fitzpatrick made 24 saves as the Acadie-Bathurst Titan advanced in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs with a 5-1 win against the Chicoutimi Sagueneens on Sunday.

Jeffrey Truchon-Viel scored the eventual winner at 12:13 of the second period for the Titan, who took the first-round series 4-2.

Ethan Crossman, Adam Holwell, Liam Murphy and Samuel Asselin also scored for Acadie-Bathurst.

Vincent Tremblay-Lapalme was the lone scorer for the Sagueneens. Zachary Bouthillier stopped 32-of-36 shots in defeat.

The Titan went 0 for 5 on the power play while Chicoutimi failed to score on two chances with the man advantage.

PHOENIX 4 HUSKIES 3 (OT)

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Marek Zachar scored at 2:33 of overtime as the Phoenix forced a Game 7 in their first-round series against Rouyn-Noranda.

Mathieu Olivier, Nicolas Poulin and Yaroslav Alexeyev also scored for Sherbrooke while Reilly Pickard stopped 25 shots for the win.

Rafael Harvey-Pinard had a hat trick for the Huskies. Samuel Harvey turned aside 30 shots in a losing cause.

Rouyn-Noranda will host Game 7 on Tuesday.

WILDCATS 2 OCEANIC 1

MONCTON, N.B. — Dylan Seitz scored the winner at 10:41 of the third period as the Wildcats edged Rimouski to force a Game 7 in their first-round matchup.

Mark Grametbauer kicked out 40 shots while Jonathan Aspirot also scored for Moncton.

Denis Mikhnin found the back of the net for the Oceanic. Colten Ellis made 20 saves in defeat.

Game 7 goes Tuesday in Rimouski.
