The first-place Chicoutimi Sagueneens have added to their roster before the holiday break by acquiring forward Felix Bibeau from the Quebec Remparts for two first-round draft picks.

Quebec acquired Rouyn-Noranda’s first-rounder in 2020 along with Chicoutimi’s first pick in the 2021 QMJHL draft.

Bibeau, a New York Islanders prospect, won a Memorial Cup earlier this year with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies before being dealt to Quebec in the off-season. He joins former Huskies teammate and current Chicoutimi captain Rafael Harvey-Pinard with the Sagueneens.

“Felix Bibeau is a complete player and an uncontested leader,” Chicoutimi GM and head coach Yanick Jean said of Quebec’s captain this season. “He’s a forward who will improve our offence, notably in the face-off circle as he’s won on average 60 per cent of his draws.”

The 20-year-old Bibeau has 17 goals and 18 assists in 31 games this season for the Remparts.

He’ll make his debut with Chicoutimi, which is currently first in the QMJHL’s Eastern Conference, on Friday night against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.
