Driver pleads guilty in crash that killed hockey player

SASKATOON — A man driving a pickup that rolled, killing a Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League player, has pleaded guilty to drunk driving causing death.

Lukas Nicolas, who is 20, of Beardy’s First Nation, will be sentenced on Oct. 31 in a Saskatoon court.

Myles Cameron, who was also 20, was killed in December 2010 near his hometown of Duck Lake, Sask.

Police say Cameron was not wearing a seatbelt.

Cameron played for the Yorkton Terriers and the Ochapowace (oh-CHAP’-oh-wace) Thunder of the Prairie Junior Hockey League.
