WHL Playoffs: Silvertips hold on to take 3-1 series lead on Americans

KENNEWICK, Wash. — Riley Sutter and Reece Vitelli scored in the second period as the Everett Silvertips held on for a 3-1 win over the Tri-City Americans on Thursday in Western Hockey League playoff action.

Everett leads the best-of-seven series 3-1. Game 5 is in Everett, Wash., on Saturday.

Carter Hart made 29 saves in net for the Silvertips and Matt Fonteyne added an empty-net goal with 40 seconds left to play.

Riley Sawchuk replied for Tri-City early in the third period and goaltender Patrick Dea stopped 24-of-26 shots.

Everett was 0 for 2 on the power play and the Americans were 0 for 3 with the man advantage.
