WHL Playoffs: Thunderbirds pull even; Rebels extend lead

RED DEER, Alta. — Adam Musil scored the winner just past the midway point of the third period as the Red Deer Rebels edged the Regina Pats 4-3 on Sunday in Game 2 of their second round Western Hockey League playoff series.

Josh Mahura and Adam Helewka scored power-play goals for the Rebels, who lead the best-of-seven series 2-0. Michael Spacek added the other.

Sam Steel, Cole Sanford and Adam Brooks all had power-play goals for Regina.

Trevor Martin made 35 saves for the win in net as Tyler Brown turned aside 28-of-32 shots in defeat.

Red Deer converted twice on four power plays while the Pats were 3 for 6.

KENT, Wash. — Mathew Barzal scored twice, including the go-ahead goal early in the third period as the Thunderbirds topped Everett to even their second-round playoff series at a game apiece.

Keegan Kolesar added an insurance goal for Seattle with 13 seconds left in the third.

Cole MacDonald had the lone goal for the Silvertips.
