WHL Roundup: Anderson-Dolan drives Chiefs to win

SPOKANE, Wash. – Jaret Anderson-Dolan had a goal and three assists as the Spokane Chiefs downed the Tri-City Americans 6-1 on Friday night in Western Hockey League action.

Nik Andersen, Taylor Ross and Markson Bechtold gave the Chiefs (31-27-9) a 3-0 lead after the first period. Anderson-Dolan, Keanu Yamamoto and Dominic Zwerger added goals in the second while Tyson Helgesen tacked on three assists.

Parker Bowles had a short-handed goal in the second for Tri-City (31-34-3).

Tyson Verhelst made 30 saves for the win in net. Nicholas Sanders kicked out 2-of-5 shots before giving the net to Evan Sarthou, who played 50:48 in relief and stopped 25 shots.

Maxwell James of the Americans was ejected at 6:19 of the second period after receiving a minor penalty for cross checking and a double minor for roughing.

Spokane was 1 for 4 on the power play, with Tri-City going scoreless on six attempts.

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. — Jamal Watson struck twice as the Broncos downed Prince Albert.

Glenn Gawdin and Lane Pederson had the others for Swift Current (24-36-8).

Drew Warkentine answered in the third for the Raiders (36-24-8).

PATS 5 WARRIORS 4 (SO)

REGINA — Sam Steel scored the winner in a shootout as the Pats slipped past Moose Jaw.

Rykr Cole, Cole Sanford, Lane Zablocki and Adam Brooks had goals in regulation for Regina (33-27-8).

Nikita Popugaev, Dryden Hunt, Tristin Langan and Tanner Jeannot supplied the offence for the Warriors (34-25-9).

WHEAT KINGS 5 BLADES 1

SASKATOON — Jayce Hawryluk had a short-handed goal and a power-play goal while adding an assist as Brandon got past the Blades.

Nolan Patrick and Macoy Erkamps scored once and had two assists apiece for the Wheat Kings (44-18-6). John Quenneville had the other.

Nick Zajac found the back of the net for Saskatoon (25-39-4).

HITMEN 5 OIL KINGS 0

EDMONTON — Cody Porter stopped all 29 shots he faced and Jordy Stallard had a pair of goals as Calgary shut out the Oil Kings.

Jakob Stukel, Carsen Twarynski and Travis Sanheim rounded out the attack for the Hitmen (38-25-4).

Payton Lee turned away 21-of-26 shots in net for Edmonton (28-32-7).

Dysin Mayo of the Oil Kings received a major penalty for charging and a game misconduct in the third period.

HURRICANES 6 REBELS 1

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — Tyler Wong struck twice as the Hurricanes snapped Red Deer’s five-game winning streak.

Arvin Atwal, Cory Millette, Kord Pankewicz and Ben Duperreault supplied the rest of the offence for Lethbridge (45-21-2).

Luke Philp scored the lone goal for the Rebels (42-23-3).

TIGERS 6 ICE 3

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. — Chad Butcher had a goal and two assists as the Tigers toppled Kootenay.

Mark Rassell, Mason Shaw, Ty Schultz, Zach Fischer and Ty Stanton supplied the rest of the offence for Medicine Hat (28-35-5). Steven Owre chipped in with three assists.

River Beattie struck twice with Max Patterson also scoring for the Ice (10-52-6).

VICTORIA — Alex Forsberg had two goals and an assist as the Royals downed Prince George.

Matthew Phillips also scored twice for Victoria (46-16-6), which improved to 9-0-1 in its last 10 games. Jack Walker and Tyler Soy added the others.

Luke Harrison and Tate Olson found the back of the net for the Cougars (36-28-5).

KELOWNA, B.C. — Dawson Davidson scored 1:25 into overtime and added two assists as Kamloops won its sixth in a row by getting past the Rockets.

Garrett Pilon, Conner McDonald and Matt Revel also chipped in for the Blazers (35-25-9).

Rourke Chartier, Tomas Soustal and Justin Kirkland had goals in regulation for Kelowna (45-18-4).

VANCOUVER — Dominic Turgeon scored twice and added an assist as Portland beat the Giants.

Cody Glass, Rihards Bukarts and Rodrigo Abols had the others for the Winterhawks (34-29-4).

KENT, Wash. — Landon Bow turned aside 21 shots as the Thunderbirds blanked Everett for their ninth straight win.

Nick Holowko scored in the first period for Seattle (41-23-3).
