WHL Roundup: Finley’s 2 goals lead Chiefs in win over Wheat Kings

BRANDON, Man. — Jack Finley’s second of the game broke a tie late in the third period and the Spokane Chiefs went on to beat the Brandon Wheat Kings 6-4 on Tuesday in Western Hockey League action.

Eli Zummack also scored twice for Spokane (5-2-2) and Riley Woods and Ethan McIndoe, with an empty-netter in the last minute of the game, rounded out the offence.

Luka Burzan, Ridly Greig, Stelio Mattheos and Braden Schneider scored for the Wheat Kings (5-1-2).

Chiefs goaltender Bailey Brkin stopped 36 shots. Brandon’s Jiri Patera made 37 saves.

RAIDERS 8 HITMEN 4

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. — Brett Leason scored twice as the Raiders doubled up Calgary.

Jeremy Masella, Sergei Sapego, Zack Hayes, Justin Nachbaur, Sean Montgomery and Carson Miller also scored for Prince Albert (11-1-0).

Mark Kastelic, Zach Huber, Luke Coleman and Dakota Krebs scored for the Hitmen (1-6-2).

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — Jordy Bellerive struck twice as the Hurricanes downed Kootenay.

Jadon Joseph, Jake Elmer, Taylor Ross and Logan Barlage supplied the rest of the offence for Lethbridge (4-4-2).

Cameron Hausinger, Jaeger White and Dallas Hines scored for the Ice (3-4-2).

GIANTS 6 BRONCOS 2

LANGLEY, B.C. — Bowen Byram had two goals to power the Giants over Swift Current.

Dawson Holt, Davis Koch, Dylan Plouffe and Alex Kannok Leipert also scored for Vancouver (9-1-1).

Tanner Nagel and Ben King replied for the Broncos (1-8-0).

THUNDERBIRDS 5 AMERICANS 4

SEATTLE — Nolan Volcan scored twice as the Thunderbirds downed Tri-City.

Owen Williams, Andrej Kukuca and Reece Harsch also scored for Seattle (6-1-1).

Nolan Yaremko led the offence for the Americans (4-4-0) with two goals and Riley Sawchuk and Parker AuCoin had the others.
