WHL Roundup: Giorgio Estephan lifts Broncos over Hurricanes

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. – Giorgio Estephan scored twice, including the eventual winner, as the Swift Current Broncos held on for a 4-3 victory over the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday in Western Hockey League playoff action.

Swift Current has a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference final.

Max Patterson and Colby Sissons also scored for the Broncos, while Stuart Skinner made 27 saves.

Egor Zudilov’s power-play goal with 1:01 left in the third pulled Lethbridge to within one, but it wasn’t enough. Zane Franklin and Brad Morrison also scored and Logan Flodell stopped 28 shots.

Game 6 is in Lethbridge, Alta., on Monday.

AMERICANS 5 SILVERTIPS 2

EVERETT, Wash. — Juuso Valimaki had a pair of goals, including the winner, as Tri-City downed the Silvertips.

Everett holds a 3-2 series lead. Game 6 is in Kennewick, Wash., on Monday.

Nolan Yaremko, Parker AuCoin and Michael Rasmussen, into an empty net, chipped in for the Americans. Patrick Dea made 35 saves for the win.

Connor Dewar had both goals for Everett. Carter Hart stopped 19-of-23 shots.
