WHL Roundup: Hebig’s hat trick helps Blades edge Broncos

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. — Cameron Hebig led the way with a hat trick as the Saskatoon Blades beat the Swift Current Broncos 4-3 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Tyler Lees had the game-winning goal at 5:51 of the third period for the Blades (4-7-1), who snapped a three-game skid.

Aleksi Heponiemi, Glenn Gawdin and Artyom Minulin found the back of the net for the Broncos (9-2-1).

Ryan Kubic made 33 saves for Saskatoon as Logan Flodell kicked out 29 shots for Swift Current.

The Broncos went 1-for-2 on the power play as the Blades scored once on four chances with the man advantage.

RAIDERS 4 WHEAT KINGS 1

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. — Parker Kelly scored twice as the Raiders downed Brandon.

Jordy Stallard and Devon Skoleski also scored for Prince Albert (6-4-3), which is 3-0-2 in its last five.

Tanner Kaspick replied for the Wheat Kings (9-4-1).

Ian Scott made 34 saves for the Raiders. Dylan Myskiw turned aside 15 shots for Brandon.

HURRICANES 5 HITMEN 4

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — Egor Zudilov scored twice as the Hurricanes defeated Calgary for their third straight win.

Ryan Vandervlis, Jordy Bellerive and Calen Addison also scored for Lethbridge (7-5-0).

Matteo Gennaro struck twice while Vladislav Yeryomenko and Andrei Grishakov also scored for the Hitmen (4-9-1).

Stuart Skinner made 30 saves for Lethbridge. Matthew Armitage turned aside 32 shots for Calgary.

Hitmen skater Andrew Fyten was given a major and game misconduct for checking from behind at 13:48 of the third period.

REBELS 4 CHIEFS 3 (OT)

RED DEER, Alta. — Jared Dmytriw scored the winner at 3:39 of overtime as the Rebels slipped past Spokane.

Lane Zablocki scored twice in regulation and Brandon Hagel had the other for Red Deer (7-6-0).

Hudson Elynuik led the way with a pair of goals for the Chiefs (8-6-2). Nolan Reid also scored.

Ethan Anders made 25 saves for the Rebels. Dawson Weatherill turned away 29 shots for Spokane.

SILVERTIPS 3 BLAZERS 1

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Connor Dewar scored twice as Everett toppled the Blazers to snap a four-game skid.

Bryce Kindopp also scored for the Silvertips (5-8-1).

Ondrej Vala kept Kamloops (3-11-0) from being shut out.

Dustin Wolf turned away 38 shots for Everett. Dylan Ferguson made 23 saves for the Blazers.

ICE 4 THUNDERBIRDS 2

CRANBROOK, B.C. — Kurtis Chapman made 37 saves as Kootenay doubled up Seattle.

Vince Loschiavo, Peyton Krebs, Colton Kroeker and Cameron Hausinger supplied the offence for the Ice (6-7-1).

Zack Andrusiak and Austin Strand scored for the Thunderbirds (5-5-1).

Matt Berlin stopped 27-of-30 shots for Seattle.

WARRIORS 9 TIGERS 1

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. — Tanner Jeannot had four goals and an assist as Moose Jaw hammered the Tigers.

Brett Howden scored twice for the Warriors (11-4-0), who also got goals from Justin Almeida, Oleg Sosunov, Jayden Halbgewachs.

Mark Rassell scored for Medicine Hat (8-5-0).

Brody Willms made 34 saves for Moose Jaw. Michael Bullion turned aside 14 shots for the Tigers.

ROCKETS 4 AMERICANS 3 (OT)

KELOWNA, B.C. — Carsen Twarynski’s second goal of the night came in overtime to lift the Rockets over Tri-City.

Dillon Dube and Leif Mattson also scored for Kelowna (6-5-2).

Parker AuCoin scored twice and Nolan Yaremko had the other for the Americans (9-4-1), who had their six-game win streak halted.

James Porter made 28 saves for the Rockets. Patrick Dea stopped 33 shots for Tri-City.

COUGARS 2 GIANTS 1

LANGLEY, B.C. — Dennis Cholowski knocked in the game-winning goal at 11:46 of the second period as Prince George downed Vancouver.

Ryan Schoettler also scored for the Cougars (5-5-4).

Tyler Benson scored for the Giants (5-6-2).

Tavin Grant turned away 32 shots for Prince George. Todd Scott made 27 saves for Vancouver.
