WHL Roundup: Langan scores twice as Warriors beat Oil Kings in OT

MOOSE JAW, Sask. – Tristin Langan scored twice, including the overtime winner, as the Moose Jaw Warriors edged the Edmonton Oil Kings 4-3 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Justin Almeida and Kaeden Taphorn also scored for the Warriors (11-5-4), while Brodan Salmond made 29 saves.

Trey Fix-Wolansky, Matthew Robertson and Vince Loschiavo replied for the Oil Kings (14-8-4). Dylan Myskiw turned aside 23 shots for Edmonton.

Moose Jaw did not have a single power play and the Oil Kings went 1 for 4 with the man advantage.

HURRICANES 8 WHEAT KINGS 4

BRANDON, Man. — Dylan Cozens had a hat trick as Lethbridge doubled the Wheat Kings.

Ty Kolle struck twice, including the eventual winner, for the Hurricanes (11-8-4), while Jake Elmer, Jordy Bellerive and Zachary Cox also scored.

Stelio Mattheos had a pair of goals for Brandon (10-7-6), while Ridly Greig and Connor Gutenberg rounded out the attack.

REBELS 3 ICE 2

CRANBROOK, B.C. — Brandon Hagel’s goal with 50 seconds left to play lifted Red Deer over Kootenay.

Dawson Barteaux and Jeff de Wit also scored for the Rebels (16-5-1).

Cameron Hausinger had both goals for the Ice (7-15-4).

RAIDERS 7 TIGERS 3

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. — Brett Leason had two goals, including the short-handed winner, as Prince Albert routed the Tigers.

Parker Kelly also scored twice as the Raiders (22-1-0) won their 15th straight game. Ozzy Wiesblatt, Brayden Pachal and Aliaksei Protas added goals as well.

Josh Williams, Bryan Lockner and Ryan Jevne replied for Medicine Hat (10-12-3).

ROCKETS 3 ROYALS 1

KELOWNA, B.C. — Liam Kindree’s goal at the 14:05 mark of the third period was the winner as the Rockets dispatched Victoria.

Kyle Topping and Leif Mattson also scored for Kelowna (11-13-1).

Kaid Oliver answered for the Royals (12-7-0).

COUGARS 5 PATS 3

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Ethan Browne had the game-winning power-play goal as the Cougars beat Regina.

Jackson Leppard, Joel Lakusta, Josh Maser and Josh Curtis also scored for Prince George (10-10-3).

Nick Henry had all three goals for the Pats (8-17-0).

Regina’s Marco Creta earneda a five-minute major and a game misconduct for boarding at 9:30 of the second period.

HITMEN 5 THUNDERBIRDS 2

KENT, Wash. — Mark Kastelic and Luke Coleman had two goals apiece as Calgary defeated Seattle.

Carson Focht put away the winner for the Hitmen (10-13-2) at 1:59 of the second period.

Matthew Wedman and Zack Andrusiak scored for the Thunderbirds (8-11-3).

BLAZERS 5 AMERICANS 1

KENNEWICK, Wash. — Orrin Centazzo scored in the first and second periods to power Kamloops past Tri-City.

Nolan Kneen, Quinn Schmiemann and Montana Onyebuchi also scored as the Blazers (9-10-2) reeled off four unanswered goals.

Isaac Johnson was the lone scorer for the Americans (12-9-0).
