WHL Roundup: Oil Kings snap 5-game losing streak with win over Pats

EDMONTON — Trey Fix-Wolansky had a goal and three assists as the Edmonton Oil Kings downed the Regina Pats 6-1 on Wednesday in Western Hockey League action, snapping their losing streak at five games.

Dylan Guenther, Vince Loschiavo, Carter Souch, Jake Neighbours and Matthew Robertson also scored for the Oil Kings (15-11-5).

Riley Krane responded for the Pats (8-21-0), who saw their winless streak reach six games.

Todd Scott made 24 saves for Edmonton as Max Paddock turned away 32 shots for Regina.

The Oil Kings went 3 for 5 on the power play while the Pats went 0 for 3 with the man advantage.


MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Ryan Jevne scored his second goal of the game in overtime to lift Medicine Hat over the Warriors.

Daniel Baker had a goal and two helpers while Joel Craven, Tyler Preziuso and James Hamblin also scored for the Tigers (14-14-3), who got 40 saves from Jordan Hollett.

Jett Woo, Luke Ormsby, Tristin Langan, Josh Brook and Keenan Taphorn scored for Moose Jaw (15-6-5). Adam Evanoff turned aside 40 shots in a losing cause.


CRANBROOK, B.C. — Dylan Cozens scored at 1:17 of the extra period as Lethbridge handed Kootenay its 10th loss in a row.

Alex Cotton and Jake Leschyshyn also scored while Reece Klassen made 28 saves for the Hurricanes (15-8-5), who are 6-0-1 in their last seven outings.

Cole Muir and Jakin Smallwood replied for the Ice (7-20-5). Jesse Makaj stopped 36 shots in a losing cause.


KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Josh Pillar completed the comeback at 10:34 of the third as the Blazers erased a two-goal deficit to beat Victoria.

Kyrell Sopotyk and Jermaine Loewen also scored for Kamloops (12-11-2). Dylan Garand made 19 saves for the victory. Blazers winger Jeff Faith was given a major for checking from behind midway through the third.

D-Jay Jerome and Phillip Schultz had goals for the Royals (13-11-0). Brock Gould stopped 26 shots in defeat.


KELOWNA, B.C. — Nolan Foote scored once in regulation and again in the shootout as the Rockets hung on to hand Tri-City its fourth straight defeat.

Erik Gardiner and Liam Kindree also scored for Kelowna (13-15-2) as James Porter made 28 saves for the victory.

Parker AuCoin struck twice and Aaron Hyman had the other as the Americans (14-11-2) erased a 3-0 deficit. Talyn Boyko stopped 24 shots in defeat.


EVERETT, Wash. — Dustin Wolf kicked out 25 shots as the Silvertips doubled up Spokane to run their point streak to 8-0-1.

Jake Christiansen, Jackson Berezowski, Bryce Kindopp and Sean Richards supplied the Everett (23-7-1) offence.

Ethan McIndoe and Riley Woods scored for the Chiefs (14-10-4). Bailey Brkin turned aside 33 shots in a losing cause.
