WHL Roundup: Pats rally from 4-goal deficit to beat Ice in shootout

REGINA – Garrett Wright and Ty Kolle scored in the shootout as the Regina Pats rallied for a 5-4 victory over the Kootenay Ice on Wednesday in Western Hockey League action.

Brady Pouteau, Brett Clayton, Carter Massier and Logan Nijhoff scored successive goals in the second and third periods for Regina (17-38-3) to erase a 4-0 deficit. Nijhoff’s goal, white shorthanded, tied the game 16:59 into the third.

Jakin Smallwood, Jaeger White, Connor McClennon and Brad Ginell supplied the offence for the Ice (11-37-9).

Max Paddock started in goal for the Pats, allowing four goals on 22 shots through 32:38. Dean McNabb stopped all 13 shots he faced the rest of the way.

Kootenay’s Jesse Makaj made 21 saves.

WHEAT KINGS 5 HITMEN 1

BRANDON, Man. — Stelio Mattheos and Cole Reinhardt each scored twice as the Wheat Kings downed Calgary.

Ridly Greig also scored for Brandon (28-22-7).

Vladislav Yeryomenko scored for the Hitmen (30-22-5).
