WHL Roundup: Rebels edge Hurricanes in shootout

RED DEER, Alta. — Brandon Hagel and Cameron Hausinger scored in the shootout as the Red Deer Rebels edged the Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-4 on Wednesday in Western Hockey League action.

Hagel and Hausinger also had goals in regulation time for Red Deer (22-12-2), while Jeff de Wit and Reese Johnson also scored.

Jake Leschyshyn, Calen Addison, Dylan Cozens and Taylor Ross scored for the Hurricanes (19-10-8). Jordy Bellerive scored in the shootout for Lethbridge.

Ethan Anders made 28 saves for the Rebels and Liam Hughes stopped 26 shots for the Hurricanes.

The Rebels were 1 for 4 on the power play and Lethbridge could not score on its two man advantages.

TIGERS 4 GIANTS 3

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. — James Hamblin scored twice as the Tigers edged Vancouver.

Hayden Ostir and Elijah Brown also scored for Medicine Hat (21-15-3).

Davis Koch, Justin Sourdif and Lukas Svejkovsky scored for the Giants (23-11-2).
