Adam Foote’s Zamboni bunk bed

The subtitle of this blog should be: “Why Adam Foote is a better dad than yours.”

If it isn’t cool enough to have an Olympic gold medalist and 19-year NHL star for a father, the sons of Adam Foote also benefitted from one badass bunk bed.

The two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Colorado Avalanche commissioned this beauty to be made for his sons, Callen and Nolan, who are now 13 and 11, respectively.

A few days ago, this masterpiece was spotted on Etsy.com, as an examle of Littleton, Colorado, craftsman Rick Brochu’s work.

Brochu is not restricting his Zamboni-bunk-bed-making services to NHL legends.

You too can get one of these beds, designed to reflect the team of your choice, for a perfectly reasonable $13,000. The listing has been recently removed (maybe because a young Denverite who dreams of being Gabriel Landeskog just had a wish fulfilled?), but Brochu is willing to make one of these masterpieces for anyone who wants one. He says each one takes about a month to construct.

Brochu, who built this ice-cleaning/sweet-dreams machine, pointed out all the nifty features of the bed in the listing.

The Zamboni “has upper and lower full size mattresses and features a working stereo, headlights, side marker lights, a steering wheel, pillow and blanket storage, and a custom paint job that can be done for the team of your choice.” Brochu assures prospective buyers that the Zamboni nameplate is legit, and explains that the tires are intended to be on a motorcycle.

The dimensions? Twelve feet long, five feet wide, six feet high. Ideal for leaving plenty of bedroom floor space open for activities.

Oh, to be an eight-year-old Avs fan with $13,000 lying around….

In the immortal words of John C. Reilly’s character in Stepbrothers, “Look at that. That looks like one you’d buy from a store.”
