Agent: Jagr wants to play for Canadiens

Jaromir Jagr has earned interest on the open market, but the Habs reportedly aren't trying to land the future Hall of Famer.

Jaromir Jagr is interested in playing for the Montreal Canadiens, according to his agent, Petr Svoboda.

Based on a loose translation, Svoboda told Louis-Andre Lariviere of TVA Sports the following:

“Jaromir always wanted to play in Montreal, insisted the agent. We discussed with (Canadiens GM) Marc Bergevin yesterday. The interest is mutual, but the decision is now up to the (team).”

“Jaromir liked what he saw in Montreal this year. He would like to contribute to their success,” added Svoboda.

In 45 games last season split between the Dallas Stars and Boston Bruins, the 41-year-old winger registered 16 goals and 19 assists.

Jagr helped the Bruins through the Stanley Cup playoffs, tallying 10 assists in 22 games. The Bruins fell to the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 6 of the Cup final.

Canadiens are not the only possible destination for Jagr as Svoboda told the Associated press that three teams are “very interested.”
