In a surprise move, Alexandre Burrows will return to the Vancouver Canucks’ lineup Wednesday when the team visits the Minnesota Wild.
Burrows sat out Sunday’s 4-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres with a hand injury after being slashed by Shea Weber in a game against the Nashville Predators last Wednesday.
Burrows was not expected to travel with the team on its current two-game road trip that features stops in Minnesota and Colorado.
The 32-year-old has missed 33 of the Canucks’ 73 games this season with various injuries, including a broken jaw. In 40 games played, Burrows has struggled, mustering just five goals and 14 points.
Henrik Sedin will not suit up for the Canucks due to a leg injury, and Eddie Lack will get the start in net against the Wild.
With nine games remaining on the schedule, the Canucks sit six points behind the Phoenix Coyotes for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
