File this pre-season story under adorable.

Ann Schaab is 10 years old. She has Down’s syndrome.

Ann boldly asked her famous crush, Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin, out for a sushi date on Sept. 11 during an American Special Hockey Association skate with 60 children hosted by Ovechkin at Kettler Capitals Iceplex, the Caps’ training facility.

The captain dragged his feet for a while, but he finally granted Ann’s wish on Oct. 5.

On the eve of the team’s final pre-season game, he surprised Ann with flowers and a personalized sweater, then whisked her to the rink, where she got a tour of the dressing room and met the players.

“I was pretty surprised when Ann skated over and asked me out during our skate,” Ovechkin said. “I thought it was a good idea and decided to take her up on it. It was great to see a smile on her face. She is a terrific and funny kid.”

After the game, the power couple feasted on raw fish.

“I think I’m going to marry him,” Ann told the Washington Post.
