Carolina Hurricanes forward Alexander Semin will take in Saturday’s game against the Arizona Coyotes from the press box.

The $7-million man was the extra forward at the morning skate and is slated to be a healthy scratch.

The team removed forward Patrick Dwyer from injured reserve Saturday and he will suit up against the Coyotes. Forward Nathan Gerbe is also set to return to the lineup, leaving Semin as the odd man out.

Chris Johnston on Twitter: “You won’t see a $7M player get scratched very often. The decision to sit Alex Semin shows how tough times are for the winless #hurricanes.”

In eight games this season, the 30-year-old Russian has no goals, two assists, four penalty minutes and a minus-7 rating.

The Hurricanes are the only team in the NHL yet to register a win this season.
