Oilers’ Andrej Sekera leaves game after blocking shot

Edmonton Oilers defenceman Andrej Sekera is forced to briefly leave the game in some discomfort thanks to a blocked shot on the same play Florida Panthers forward Aleksander Barkov scores to even it up 1-1.

Edmonton Oilers defenceman Andrej Sekera has left Wednesday’s game against the Florida Panthers and will not return after suffering an upper-body injury.

Sekera was hit by a shot early in the second period.

The 30-year-old has seven goals and 18 assists this season, his second in Edmonton.

The Oilers were already without defenceman Adam Larsson, who had been held out with a lower-body injury.
