Andrew Hammond recalled by Senators from Binghamton

Ottawa Senators goaltender Andrew Hammond joins Dan Murphy to talk about the Senators picking up a win against the Canucks.

The Ottawa Senators have recalled goaltender Andrew Hammond from their AHL affiliate in Binghamton, ending his conditioning stint.

Hammond hasn’t played since Nov. 12, and was put on injured reserve after taking multiple pucks to the head.

He was sent to the Binghamton Senators on Thursday, and he played two games for the team, losing both while giving up eight goals.

Hammond is in the first year of a three-year $4.05-million contract signed after coming seemingly out of nowhere to lead the Senators into the playoffs last season.

He started his NHL career going 20-1-2 and finished the 2014-15 season with a .941 save percentage and a 1.79 goals-against average.

In just four games this year, the 27-year-old has a 2-0-2 record with a 2.42 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage.

In accordance with the recall of Hammond, the Senators have reassigned Chris Driedger to Binghamton.

Driedger appeared in only one game for the Senators, stopping all 11 shots he faced in relief during a 3-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.
