The Colorado Avalanche announced Sunday that injured defencemen Cale Makar and Erik Johnson will miss the team’s upcoming two-game road trip.

Neither blue-liner boarded the team flight to St. Louis, where Colorado will face the Blues on Monday night. On Wednesday, the Avalanche will be in Chicago to take on the Blackhawks.

Makar, the frontrunner for the Calder Trophy, missed the Avalanche’s past three games after suffering an upper-body injury on Dec. 7 against Boston. He has eight goals and 28 points in 29 games.

Johnson, a 12th-year veteran, has been out since sustaining a lower-body injury against Toronto on Nov. 23. He has one goal and six points in 23 games.

Both players were present at team practice on Sunday. Makar only participated in individual drills, while Johnson skated with the team in a non-contact jersey.
