Colorado Avalanche rookie defenceman Cale Makar is slated to return to the lineup against the Minnesota Wild on Friday, the team announced.

Makar was placed on injured reserve after he suffered an upper-body injury from a hard hit by Boston Bruins winger Brad Marchand on Dec. 7.

In 29 games this season, the 21-year-old has posted eight goals and 28 points. The Calgary, Alta., native was selected fourth overall by Colorado in the 2017 NHL Draft.
