The Colorado Avalanche announced in late March that a pair of players had tested positive for COVID-19. Although the identity of those players is unknown, Avalanche forward Nazem Kadri is “fairly certain they’re 100 per cent recovered.”
“[They] had some early symptoms and quarantined and isolated right away so kudos to them for taking it serious and taking care of the problem right away,” Kadri told Good Show on Friday.
Avalanche players and staff were instructed to remain isolated and monitor their health per NHL direction, so that’s what Kadri has been doing.
“It was bizarre. It was just very weird and something I’ve obviously never been through before,” Kadri said. “I was working hard coming back from an injury just about ready to hop in the lineup and then this bombshell was dropped on us. All of a sudden we just couldn’t even go to the rink anymore. It was something pretty drastic. It’s not like they took away games and then slowly the practices. It’s not like it was a domino effect. It was everything shut down immediately right away, so that was a little weird and tough to adjust to, but you gotta live on the fly and find ways to adapt.”
Kadri has adapted by posting trick shots and running his cat’s popular Instagram page while continuing to stay in shape despite the unusual circumstances.
