The Colorado Avalanche will be without defenceman Tyson Barrie for their next three games.

Barrie was suspended three games for a hit deemed as charging and interference on Anaheim Ducks defenceman Simon Despres during a game Friday night at Honda Center, the NHL announced in a press release late Saturday.

Barrie appeared to leave his feet and made contact with Despres’ head on the play.

The suspension will cost Barrie $41,935.47 in salary.

The 24-year-old has two assists in four games this season. Barrie led Avalanche defencemen in scoring in 2014-15 with 12 goals and 53 points in 80 games.
