B. Schenn fined maximum for cross-checking

Duncan Keith and Andrew Shaw scored in a 39-second span at the start of Chicago's five-goal second period, sparking the Blackhawks to a 7-2 victory over Ray Emery and the Philadelphia Flyers.

Philadelphia Flyers forward Brayden Schenn has been fined $2,230.77, the maximum allowed under the collective bargaining agreement, for cross-checking Chicago Blackhawks forward Kris Versteeg on Wednesday.

At the 13:25 mark of the second period, with the Flyers in the middle of getting blown out 7-2 in Chicago, Schenn drove Versteeg’s head into the corner glass with his fist and stick as the two battled for the puck. No penalty was called on the play, despite Versteeg’s pleas to the referee.

Schenn’s fine money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
