CHICAGO — Forward Kris Versteeg has been activated from longterm injured reserve by the Chicago Blackhawks after being sidelined by a fractured left hand.

The Blackhawks announced the move before Wednesday’s game against Vancouver.

Versteeg, out since Jan. 1, had surgery to repair the injury. He was having a resurgent season playing on a line with Patrick Kane and Brad Richards, posting nine goals and 18 assists in 34 games.

The Blackhawks also assigned forward Joakim Nordstrom to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.
