Blackhawks agree to terms with defenceman Dennis Gilbert

The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to terms with defenceman Dennis Gilbert on a three-year, entry-level deal.

Gilbert will immediately report to the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs.

Gilbert, 21, just wrapped up his junior season at Notre Dame, scoring 10 points in 39 games. Over a three-year career for the Fighting Irish, Gilbert notched six goals and 36 assists in 116 college games.

The native of Buffalo, N.Y., was drafted by the Blackhawks in the third round (91st overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.
