Chicago Blackhawks center Artem Anisimov (15) watches the shot by teammate Artemi Panarin go in for a goal past Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, as Olli Maatta also defends during the first period of an NHL hockey game Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, in Chicago.

Chicago Blackhawks centre Artem Anisimov underwent successful surgery on his right wrist Tuesday, the team announced.

“The surgery went well,” said Blackhawks head team physician Dr. Michael Terry. “We anticipate his return to full hockey activities in approximately six to eight weeks.”

Anisimov enjoyed a successful season with the Blackhawks, scoring 20 goals and 42 points in 77 games while centring the dynamic duo of Patrick Kane and Artemi Panarin.

He added three goals in seven playoff games.

It was Anisimov’s first season in Chicago after being acquired in a trade from the Columbus Blue Jackets in the off-season.

The 27-year-old was named to Russia’s roster for the upcoming World Cup of Hockey in September.
