Philadelphia sports fans once famously booed Santa Claus.
Chicago sports fans might’ve one-upped them Tuesday night by booing a child during the Chicago Blackhawks vs. Vegas Golden Knights game.
During a break in the action, a young Blackhawks fan was interviewed on the United Center’s scoreboard. When asked what they were planning on dressing up as for Halloween, the kid answered Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky.
The response, which occurred just two days after a Bears team that had high hopes heading into the 2019 season fell to 3-3 with a tough loss to the New Orleans Saints, was immediately and predictably met with a chorus of boos.

To make things worse for Chicago fans, the Blackhawks held a 1-0 lead for most of the game before blowing it late in the third period and losing 2-1 in a shootout.
The jeers were a reaction to Trubisky’s frequent struggles. The second-overall pick from the 2017 NFL Draft – remember, the Bears traded up to get Trubisky at No. 2 while the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson were available – threw the ball 54 times on Sunday but only averaged 4.65 yards per attempt and was unable to stretch the field in his first game back from a shoulder injury.
“We just have no rhythm,” Trubisky said after the game. “It’s not about pointing fingers. We’re struggling as an offence.”
Trubisky and the Bears will look to rebound in Week 8 at home against the banged-up Los Angeles Chargers.
