Blackhawks ink defenceman Jan Rutta to one-year extension

The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to a one-year extension with defenceman Jan Rutta.

The deal worth an annual-average value of $2.25 million.

Rutta signed with Chicago in June 2017 after spending seven seasons with Piráti Chomutov in his native Czech Republic.

This season Rutta has six goals, 19 points and 22 penalty minutes in 43 games with the Blackhawks.

The new extension will see the 27-year-old remain with Chicago through the 2018-19 season.
