The NHL’s department of player safety has fined Chicago Blackhawks forward John Hayden $2,486.56 for high-sticking Tampa Bay Lightning forward J.T. Brown on Thursday.

Hayden received a double-minor for the play, which occurred 5:49 into the game. It was his second double-minor in his past three games.

Brown had to go to the Tampa Bay locker room for repairs, but did return.

The money from the fine – which was the maximum allowable amount under the CBA – goes to the players’ emergency assistance fund.
