Blackhawks’ Toews ‘not getting better’ will miss sixth game
Winnipeg Jets' Toby Enstrom (39) and Chicago Blackhawks' Jonathan Toews (19) battle during first period NHL action in Winnipeg on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. (John Woods/CP)
The 28-year-old was originally injured on Nov. 23 in a game against the San Jose Sharks and has missed all of Chicago’s games since then with a back injury.
Toews did not travel with the team on their latest road trip, and, according to head coach Joel Quenneville, Toews is “not getting better.”
"Not getting better," according to Joel Quenneville. That's certainly alarming. https://t.co/EIwNOqHCYo
During the five games without Toews, the Blackhawks went 3-1-1 and are sitting three points up on the St. Louis Blues at the top of the Western Conference.
In 21 games this season, Toews’ four goals and eight assists have him seventh on the team in scoring.
