Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane has been fined $5,000 by the NHL Department of Player Safety for a slash on Anaheim Ducks‘ Nick Ritchie on Monday night.
The fine is the maximum allowed under the collective bargaining agreement.
The play took place at the 15:47 mark of the third period of Chicago’s 7-3 win over Anaheim as the two were making their way to their respective benches. Kane, who racked up three assists in the lopsided victory, received a two-minute penalty for slashing.
The money from the fine will go to the players’ emergency assistance fund.
