Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane fined $5K for slash on Ducks’ Nick Ritchie

Alex DeBrincat scored his first hat trick to get the Blackhawks a convincing 7-3 win over the Ducks.

Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane has been fined $5,000 by the NHL Department of Player Safety for a slash on Anaheim DucksNick Ritchie on Monday night.

The fine is the maximum allowed under the collective bargaining agreement.

The play took place at the 15:47 mark of the third period of Chicago’s 7-3 win over Anaheim as the two were making their way to their respective benches. Kane, who racked up three assists in the lopsided victory, received a two-minute penalty for slashing.

The money from the fine will go to the players’ emergency assistance fund.
