Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Brent Seabrook is slated to undergo surgery on his right shoulder as well as both hips and will be out for the remainder of the 2019-20 season, the team announced Thursday.

The 34-year-old struggled this season, with coach Jeremy Colliton responding by scratching the veteran D-man, who was averaging a career-low 18:09 minutes per game.

The 2015 all-star and three-time Stanley Cup winner had four points through 32 games.

After 2019-20, Seabrook has four years remaining on the eight-year, $55-million contract he signed with the Blackhawks ahead of the 2015-16 season.

Fellow rearguard Calvin de Haan will also undergo surgery on his right shoulder and miss the rest of the campaign.

De Haan, 28, recorded six points in 29 games this season.

The Blackhawks also revealed that winger Brandon Saad will be sidelined three weeks with an injury to his right ankle.

The 27-year-old has 19 points in 36 games this season.

Seabrook and de Haan have been placed on the LTIR.
