Columbus Blue Jackets forward Oliver Bjorkstrand is expected to miss eight to 10 weeks after suffering a sprained and fractured ankle, the team announced Friday.

The injury occurred during the third period of Thursday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers when Bjorkstrand went feet first into the boards after he was knocked off the puck by Philippe Myers.

Bjorkstrand was seen leaving the arena in a walking boot and crutches, according to Brian Hedger of NHL.com. The 24-year-old has 21 goals and 36 points in 49 games this season for the Blue Jackets, who have been hit hard by injuries.

The team is missing defencemen Seth Jones and Ryan Murray along with forwards Josh Anderson, Cam Atkinson, Brandon Dubinsky and Alexander Wennberg.
