Blue Jackets place Matt Calvert on IR

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed left wing Matt Calvert on injured reserve and recalled centre Brian Gibbons from their American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Calvert is out indefinitely due to a concussion.

Calvert has recorded 10 goals and nine assists in 49 games this season and has totalled 39 goals and 43 assists in 202 career NHL games after being Columbus’ fifth pick in the 2008 NHL draft.

Gibbons, a free agent signing from Pittsburgh last summer, has five assists in 21 games this season with the Blue Jackets. The Braintree, Massachusetts, native has three goals and six assists in 10 games at Springfield.
