Derek Dorsett spent parts of five seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets, where he was mostly known for his propensity of playing on the edge and using his fists to settle disputes. Dorsett topped out at 12 goals and 20 points with Columbus in 2011-12 and, more notably, accumulated 235 penalty minutes that season, too.
Now with the Vancover Canucks, Dorsett faced his former team Friday night and you just know he wanted to make his presence felt. In the second period, Dorsett took a wide-eyed approach at Columbus’ Brian Gibbons and tried to clobber him into next week with a huge bodycheck. Thing is, Gibbons saw him coming at the last second and Dorsett ended up in the bench.
After the hit, Columbus’ team twitter account had a little fun at the expense of their former player Dorsett.
