The Columbus Blue Jackets re-signed forward William Karlsson to a two-year extension Thursday, as first reported by Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch.

Karlsson scored nine goals and 20 points in 81 games with Columbus last season. He was drafted 53rd overall in 2011 by the Anaheim Ducks.

“William Karlsson made great strides in his first NHL season and we believe that he is just beginning to come into his own as a player,” general manager Jarmo Kekalainen told the team’s website. “He is an important part of our young, core group of players and we are pleased that he will continue to grow, develop and contribute to our team as we move forward.”
