Blue Jackets’ Ryan Murray signs 2-year extension

Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen joined Prime Time Sports to talk about trading Ryan Johansen for Seth Jones, a defenceman he thinks could pair up with Ryan Murray to create a premier defensive tandem.

Defenceman Ryan Murray signed a two-year extension with the Columbus Blue Jackets Thursday, the team announced.

Murray will earn $2.825 million annually against the salary cap.

Murray, 22, has scored four goals and 13 assists for 17 points in 55 games this season. His average ice time of 22:27 ranks fourth on the team. He was the Blue Jackets’ second-overall pick in the 2012 draft.

He has recorded 41 points in 133 career NHL games.
