The Columbus Blue Jackets signed forward Alex Broadhurst to a one-year, two-way contract extension, the team announced Monday.
Broadhurst has spent the past two seasons with the Cleveland Monsters in the AHL where he had a team-high 19 goals to go with 41 points in 66 games in 2017-18. He also suited up for his first two career NHL games with the Blue Jackets late in the regular season.
The 25-year-old was selected in the seventh round (199th overall) by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2011 NHL Draft. His rights were dealt to the Blue Jackets back in 2015 when the team acquired Brandon Saad.
Broadhurst was set to become a be a Group 6 unrestricted free agent on July 1. No financial details were disclosed by the team when the signing was announced.
The Orland Park, Ill native has 62 goals, 99 assists for 161 points and 93 penalty minutes in 282 career AHL games split between the Monsters franchise and the Blackhawks-affiliated Rockford IceHogs.
