Blue Jackets sign goalie Vehvilainen to two-year, entry level contract

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed goaltender Veini Vehvilainen to a two-year, entry level contract, the team announced Tuesday.

Vehvilainen, 22, was selected by the team in sixth round of the 2018 NHL Draft, 173rd overall.

The Finnish goalie posted a 25-8-5 record, 1.58 GAA and .933 save percentage with Karpat in Finland’s Liiga. He recorded six shutouts in 38 games and he led the league in wins, GAA, save percentage and shutouts.

Vehvilainen has represented Finland at several international tournaments, including making his men’s debut and helping the country win gold at the 2019 IIHF World Championship.
