The Toronto Blue Jays have transferred pitcher Ryan Borucki to the 60-day injured list with left elbow inflammation, the team announced Monday.

He is now ineligible to play until at least May 27, according to Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith.

The move has been made to make room on the 40-man roster for infielder Eric Sogard, who has been called up after Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was optioned to triple-A Buffalo.

Borucki, 25, has yet to take the mound for the Blue Jays this season after feeling discomfort in his elbow during spring training.
