Blues activate forward Nikita Soshnikov from injured reserve

St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong joins HC at Noon to discuss how the club plans to utilize newly acquired Nikita Soshnikov from the Leafs.

The St. Louis Blues have activated forward Nikita Soshnikov from injured reserve, the club announced Saturday.

St. Louis acquired Soshnikov from the Toronto Maple Leafs via trade last week, sending a 2019 fourth-round pick to Toronto for the 24-year-old.

Joining the Leafs organization in 2015 after a stint in the KHL, Soshnikov eventually suited up for 70 games in a Leafs uniform, tallying seven goals and 14 points over that span. He appeared in just three games at the NHL level this season, alongside 19 for the club’s AHL affiliate, for whom he posted 17 points.

St. Louis also recalled Tage Thompson and Jordan Schmaltz from their AHL affiliate in San Antonio, sending Samuel Blais and Chris Butler back to the minor-league club as well.
