St. Louis Blues forward Jaden Schwartz will miss the remainder of the World Championships due to an upper-body injury, Hockey Canada announced on Friday.
Per the Blues’, Schwartz’s injury does not require surgery and won’t affect his training camp availability.
The injury occurred in Thursday’s quarterfinal victory over Russia, when Schwartz was checked into the boards by Nikita Nesterov, who then fell on top of him. Schwartz left the game immediately and did not return.
The 25-year-old Saskatchewan native had four assists in eight games during this year’s tournament while helping Canada reach the semi-finals. Team Canada will take on Switzerland on Saturday for a shot at the podium.
Schwartz had 24 goals and 35 assists for 59 points in 62 games this past season with the Blues.
