The St. Louis Blues have signed forward Martin Havlat to a one-year contract, the team announced via official release Friday.
The 34-year-old was invited to a professional tryout late last month. The Blues also released veteran forward Dainius Zubrus from his professional tryout Friday.
Havlat spent the 2014-15 season with the New Jersey Devils, totaling five goals and nine assists in 40 games. The former first-round pick of the Ottawa Senators has scored 241 goals and registered 593 points in 788 games over the course of his career with stops in Ottawa, Chicago, Minnesota, San Jose, and New Jersey.
The Blues are currently dealing with several injuries up front. Forwards Patrik Berglund (shoulder), Paul Stastny (foot), and Jaden Schwartz (ankle) are all out of the lineup.
The Blues also activated defenceman Kevin Shattenkirk from injured reserve Friday and assigned forward Ty Rattie to its American Hockey League affiliate Chicago Wolves.
St. Louis travels to Nashville to face the Predators on Saturday.
