St. Louis Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko left Saturday’s must-win game against the Colorado Avalanche with an apparent injury.

He left the game midway through the first period after attempting to check Gabriel Landeskog into the boards.

He did not return to the bench for the second frame, and was ultimately ruled out by the team, citing an upper-body injury.

Following the game, Blues head coach Mike Yeo called Tarasenko’s injury “significant.”

The club was sitting in the West’s second wild card spot going into Saturday’s game in Colorado, but a regulation loss means the Avalanche are playoff-bound while St. Louis’ season is officially over.
