Gotta See It: Shanahan hops on ice, offers Leafs tips

The Hockey Central crew notes that while the Maple Leafs experienced a wholesale change in management, the on-ice produce is effectively identical to last year's disappointing squad minus Phil Kessel.

In a move that surprised both onlookers and the players themselves, Toronto Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan went onto the ice decked in a suit jacket and dress shoes Monday, grabbed a stick from assistant coach Jim Hiller and joined a small group of Leafs — goalie James Reimer, defenceman Scott Harrington and first-line winger Brad Boyes — to talk strategy after the main practice had ended.

Boyes told reporters at the Leafs practice facility that Shanahan was volunteering hands-on advice on some power-play techniques.
