One week before the night that zombies walk the streets of Buffalo, Brett Hull picked at an old scab, stirring a nightmare that will not die.
On Wednesday Hull tweeted out a photo of a jack-o-lantern illuminating the image of sprawled-out Sabres netminder Dominik Hasek allowing Hull’s controversial 1999 Stanley Cup-winning goal, which gave the Dallas Stars a championship over the Buffalo Sabres in triple overtime of Game 6.
Hull – owner of hockey’s best Twitter handle — tagged a sly message to Sabres fans, most of whom maintain that the goal shouldn’t have counted.
Happy Halloween to all my friends in Buffalo! twitter.com/2ndBestHull/st…

Earlier this month, St. Louis Blues coach Ken Hitchcock spoke about Hull’s foot-in-crease goal to NHL.com.
“Oh, goal for sure. It’s a goal for sure because it was a silly rule anyways,” Hitchcock, who coached those ’99 Stars, said. “The second part is what has made that so good is after a while Stanley Cups run together and it’s hard to tell who played who, but no one will ever forget that Stanley Cup Final. That’s what has made it so great. Everybody knows about the ’99 Cup Final.”
