Trending: Britney Spears buys NHLer’s house

Britney Spears will be treading the same hallways as a former Montreal Canadien and Toronto Maple Leaf.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the pop star and X Factor judge has purchased the “lavish” home of retired NHL winger Russ Courtnall and his wife, Paris Vaughan.

The Courtnalls put their Thousand Oaks home on the Southern California real estate market for $8.5 million in August and withdrew it shortly thereafter.

The L.A. Times explains that such a strategy is sometimes used to conceal celebrity home purchases. The final sales price was not revealed.

The 2010-built Mediterranean-style home sits in the Lake Sherwood area. The property’s features include pocket doors, limestone and oak floors, beamed ceilings, two offices, a temperature-controlled wine cellar, a home theatre, five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a five-car garage, and 8,456 square feet of living space. The 1.42-acre grounds contain an infinity pool, a rose garden, an outdoor fireplace and a barbecue centre.

Which is a long way of saying it’s a pretty sweet pad.

Vaughn, the daughter of deceased jazz singer Sarah Vaughn, is an actress whose credits include ‘90s TV shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Wayan Bros.

During his 17-year NHL career, Courtnall amassed 744 points playing for the Leafs, Habs, Minnesota North Stars, Dallas Stars, Vancouver Canucks, New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings. Following his career, he participated in two seasons of Battle of the Blades.

Spears was not a judge on that show.
