Bruce Boudreau named head coach of Minnesota Wild

Bruce Boudreau has been announced as the new head coach of the Minnesota Wild.

Boudreau was fired from the Anaheim Ducks after the team failed to advance past the first round of the playoffs. The Ducks were defeated in seven games by the Nashville Predators.

Reports over the past few days suggested the coach had spoken with both the Ottawa Senators and the Wild.

John Torchetti was the Wild’s interim head coach since Mike Yeo was let go after Minnesota lost 13 of its last 14 games under his watch. Torchetti coached the team to a 15-11-1 record, qualifying them for the post-season before losing to the Dallas Stars in the first round.

Boudreau was fired by the Ducks on April 29, two days after being eliminated from the playoffs.
